Grandpa Chan's 70th Birthday Dinner

Grandpa Chan's actual 70th Birthday fall on 29th July however we decided celebrated over the weekend 25th July (Sunday)@ Hung Kang Teochew Restaurant. As Grandpa Chan loved Teochew dishes but grandma Chan do not how to cook them.

This is probably the 2nd times we come to this restaurant. 1st time was like 20years ago when are still teenages. But now we are parent of our child and our parent are growing old.

The restaurant is located at North Canal Road...quite easy to spot as it is just opposite the temporary market. Food are nice and price is reasonable too.

Instead of normal birthday cake, SIL ordered Agar Agar cake for Grandpa Chan. It tastes nice and kids loved it too.
Actually quite likes the background look very traditional.
Here are the Grandpa and Grandma Chan

Trying to get the kids to take picture together but the boy simply refused to cooperate.
End up the parent have to pose together with the boys for the picture.

Science Centre and IMM => NO WATER PLAY...

Last Saturday, went to Science Centre and IMM with my dad and second brother's family.

Science Centre
Was all prepared to let the kids to play water at Science centre but upon getting the admission tickets. Was told that the water playground under maintenance. Really don't understand why they do maintenance over the weekend don't they know that they will be alot of people visiting the centre. This round the theme is "Dinasours Alive", the creature looks very alive and real. In fact, the kids are abit scared of it.

Overall, the kids have enjoyed themselves alot.

IMM
Since we did not managed to have water play hence thinking bring the kids to IMM's water playground instead. To our disappointment, the playground will stopped from 5pm to 8pm due to outdoor event.... SIGH!!!!! The kids are really disppointed and just play at the dry playground for 15mins since the place are super crowded and HOT.

Went for dinner at Ajisen for 8 adults and 5 kids, not an easy task as it is weekend and we have to waited for at least 20mins for a BIG long table. Food are nice and price are high total we have spent ard 220SGD for the dinner.

Grandpa chan birthday celebration

20th July 2008 (Lunar Birthday) was Grandpa Chan birthday hence we have arranged an outing for the family however my elder brother's family and mum unable to join us as they are busy with the new house.

So we went ahead with our plan. First, we went to East Coast Park to build sand castle, sand pools and have a dip in the sea before heading to the Bigsplash playground. Rather difficult to find a parking lot due to the weekend Flea market or Car boot sales. Thought of trying out the "white coffee" cafe but the queue was damn long. Instead we went to KFC for our lunch.

Besides, the kids are requesting us to let them to play at "Frisk ‘n’ Romp – Kids’ Playclub " but find it rather expensive (18SGD per session) and the area are much smaller than Explorer Kids hence give it amiss.

After the lunch, we approached our second destination "DHL HOTAIR BALLOON". Kids are extremely excited with the ride which costs 23SGD for adult and 13SGD for kid. So only Grandpa, Second SIL, two nieces, Ian and myself went for the rides. The rest just stay put at the ground. Reason papa kwok is afraid of height lor...brother chan is still hungry so went for another round and baby JiaTing is too young too take the ride.

Honestly, i didn't really have the chance to take a good look up there as i was busy with Ian as he keep wanting me to carry him up to see then busy with picture taking too. ( hee have yet download to my computer so not picture available for viewing). Although we are at the height of 150M from the ground but the wind are really strong and can felt the "basket" moving about.
Too bad, the ride only last for 10mins....hope it to be abit longer so that i can take some more pictures and enjoy the 360 degree view.

Oophs...forget to mentioned the DHL Balloon will be moving out from Bugis to some where else.
Suggest it to be shifted near to marina bay instead woodlands...if move to woodlands see what? Industrial park....na. : P
Our third destination was shopping at Queenway Shopping Centre...to buy Grandpa a gift. His favourite sport gears. Grandpa have mostly everything but his love are still sport items. Instead of give for the sake of giving, we decided to let him choose his own present where he have picked up a pair of running shoes for cross country jogging. Then the rest also start looking for shoes....in the end Grandpa, Papa Kwok, Myself, and both my nieces have bought a pair of new jogging or walking shoes.

Our Fourth destination was our favourite hangout place - Singapore Changi Airport. Where we will be having our dinner at Fish & Co located at T2. Have managed to book a room for the group. Kids liked the places as they just to walk around/play within the room. Then we went for a walk at T2 to T3 before heading home to have a good rest.

Family Outings

Finally Weekend is here...Was feeling much better after the "virus attack".

It have been long long times we have a family outing for the chan. So arranged with my Dad, my family and 2nd brother's family to Downtown East to spend our Saturday. Unfortunatly my elder brother's family and mum can't join us as they are busy shopping for their new house furniture.

Arrived at there ard 1pm, then start "CHOPPING" places for the bowling then at the Mr Chicken Rice shop for 6 adutls and 4 children. Food was okay and value for money.

After lunch, we head down immediately to the bowling alley where the kids also just to enjoy theirselves at the "coin operated" bowling alley before going to the "real" lane. They have very advance equipment where the bumper will automatically raise when it is "player" turn. It is good at least we don't have to reserve two lanes for the group.

All adults and children really enjoyed theirselves especially when Ian were about to roll out the ball from his hand to our lane he make a SUDDEN switch the lane on our right. ARrr....rgh....!!!
So I run as fast as i can to stop Ian but too late as he was much faster then me... : ( I can tell the man next lane was rather unhappy (he is playing like pro....hitting at least 150pts already at 7th frame) but there nothing much we can do but just apologised to him.

To punish Ian, i pulled him aside and make him stand at one corner where he just to wetted himself in the public....OMG....*faint*. So daddy carried him to restroom to change and quickly completed our game to left the place.

Then we went to Explorerkid for an hour where my dad started snapping away where the kids run about the area. As mentioned this placed are really "blood sucking" place, where u need to paid an entry fee @ SGD 20 plus or SGD11 with membership (to obtain a membership u will need to pay SGD 8.50 or SGD 5.50 with NTUC card) then once inside if your kid want to play the paintball, rock climbing, ice skating and etc...you will need to pay for each event again...

Why can't they just included them since we have already paid SGD11 or SGD20 for an hour?

Since the kids are enjoying themselves and daddy busy with his shopping so i sneaked into the nail salon to do my pedicure.

Is time for dinner... an headache issue what for dinner... JACKPLACE @ YISHUN SAFRA so went down to the place but to our disappointment the place are FULLY BOOKED. So have to goto the chinese restaurant instead. Not a bad choice...food are okay : ).

Aftet the dinner, we jumped to next door to the arcade and played for the rest of the night before heading home. It is a long day hence the minute we are home Ian fall asleep immediately.

Family's Day - Monday 16.06.2008

It have been long long time the 3 of us spend the day alone and enjoy each other accompany.

So we took leave on 16th june. Soon after our 2nd appointment at HDB, have breakfast at Mcdonald's then drive from Toa Payoh to Choa Chu Kang Swimming complex but it was closed for weekly maintances. Hence drive down to Jurong West Swimming Complex instead. Ian have really enjoyed himself with the slides and waterfalls as well as the lazy pool. After the swim we head down to Japan Village for lunch where ian have eaten two plates of sushi by himself...bravo...hardly see Ian enjoyed his food so much.

On the way to Pasir Ris downtown, Ian and i took a nap in the car while daddy strangled to stay awake. WOW newly renovated NTUC downtown East, Ian was very excited and wanted to try out the new kids explorer but it cost ard S$20/hr or S$11/hr for non member or member respectively. Then we went to watch the "KUNGFU PANDA" and take the Ferries Wheel rides (6.50 - 1 pax, 11.50 - 2pax, 15.5 - 3 pax and so on).

Instead of having dinner at NTUC downtown we went to Tampines central but Nothing for us so we return to Toa Payoh Lorong 5 for the famous fish ball noodle soup. Then Ian have one bowl of noodle by himself ... wow very impressed.. Do hope that he eat like this everyday lor.
